Our story and restoration

A place we fell in love with.

Endsleigh Walled Gardens is being brought back to life by us, Kayliegh and Ben Scott. From the moment we stepped into the gardens, we fell in love with the place, its atmosphere, its history and its potential.

Our story

Honouring the past, growing something new.

We don't come from a formally trained horticultural background. What brought us here was a love for these gardens and the possibilities we could see behind the walls.

Once the historic kitchen gardens for the estate, and later remembered by many as a much loved garden nursery, Endsleigh Walled Gardens has long been woven into local life. We saw an opportunity to honour that past while creating a welcoming place for the community, with a nursery, a small cafe, locally chosen gifts, workshops, gardens to explore and space for people to connect.

We're very lucky to have Claire join us, our nursery expert, who previously worked in the gardens. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and care for the site. Alongside a hand curated selection from other growers, we're growing lots of our own plants here too.

Our plans

Thoughtful steps, room to grow.

Our vision is to restore and grow Endsleigh Walled Gardens in thoughtful phases, allowing the business, the gardens and the community around them to develop naturally over time.

We plan to expand the nursery, restore garden areas, create spaces for learning, grow our seasonal workshops and introduce events. We also want to develop programmes that encourage people to connect with nature, food, growing, creativity and wellbeing.

At the heart of our plans is the desire to create a place where people can learn, explore, volunteer, gather and also simply pause. Whether you're visiting for plants, coffee, inspiration, a workshop or a quiet moment in the gardens, we want Endsleigh Walled Gardens to feel peaceful, purposeful and full of life.

Our community

So much kindness behind the progress.

Community is already at the heart of Endsleigh Walled Gardens. We have been incredibly grateful for the support, encouragement and enthusiasm shown by local people since the beginning of our journey.

Our fantastic group of volunteers continues to grow, helping us clear, plant, restore and shape the gardens for the future. Their time, energy and kindness are becoming part of the story of this place.

Many people have their own memories and connections to the gardens, from its past as a working garden to its time as a well loved nursery. We want to celebrate those stories while welcoming new people into the next chapter, creating an ever growing community rooted in history, nature and shared purpose.

The restoration in photographs

Then, now… and everything in between.

These photographs are shown in the order they were taken. From the first overgrown glasshouses to plants returning to the benches and cake on the counter, they're the real story of how Endsleigh Walled Gardens is coming back to life.

Beautiful, tangled and very much waiting for their next chapter.

The room before

Shelves, old counters and a great deal of imagining… this would become our shop and coffee space.

The timber lining was in and suddenly the room began to feel welcoming again.

Cake time!

Cake time!

A simple treat after a wander has become one of our favourite parts of the day.

And we're nowhere near finished… which is rather the point.

There's a story in these walls.
